Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun is the nearest Airport which is about 281 kms. The nearest rail heads are Dehradun and Rishikesh with good connectivity to Delhi and the nearby towns. One can also reach Auli by road by hiring a cab or through state transport buses.
The weather in Auli is highly unpredictable. In order to enjoy skiing one can visit this place from end of January to beginning March.
Auli is a place for adventure lovers and offers long and clean stretches of 10-20kms snow covered mountain slopes for skiing. From the ridge there is a descent of about 500 meters spread over a stretch of 3 kms. One can see the skiers sliding down the mountain slopes with the crack of dawn until late in the evening when it gets dark, cold and chilly. During winters Auli receives heavy snowfall from time to time but there are also large numbers of days that are unusually sunny.
Auli is connected to Joshimath with about a 3.9km cable car apart from 16km long road connectivity. The lower and upper slopes are linked through a 500meter long ski lift. Other places close to Auli are Badrinath about 63kms, Hemkund Sahib about 54 kms and the Valley of flowers about 54 kms.
