I visited Ratnagiri from Bangalore, roughly around 800kms. My journey was on my Harley Street 750 along with 4 other Harley riders. The place is by the Arabian sea. The roadway to reach Ratnagiri is fabulous, through the western ghats. Its one of the best destinations to spend your time if you stay in Karnataka / Maharastra / Goa. The ride by the sea is a must. You might not find this experience anywhere else in India except the ECR (Chennai to Pondicherry). The famous Ganpati temple. The light house is a must visit. The fishing harbour can also be a good experience if they don''t irritate you. Stay in a good resort with the sea view and you will have a wonderful stay. The days are hot so you have to be prepared. Also, it rains most of the year, so be prepared and don''t let it wash away your holiday. The place is surely not expensive and as commercialised as Goa or Pondicherry. I would recommend at least 2 nights of stay and thise might turn out to be the best nights of your life.

I had been to Ratnagiri by road in the month of March 2016. Ratnagiri is an important stop-over in the tourism circuit of Maharashtra. The must-visit places around Ratnagiri include Ratnagiri fort and Ganapatipule beach. The Ratnadurg fort is located at an elevation of 1300 meters and is surrounded by the Arabian Sea from three sides. The fort has a light house and the Goddess Bhagwati temple is located inside the fort. The Ganapati pule beach is located between Mumbai and Goa and one can stay at the Resort which is an awesome place to stay in.
