Binsar is a popular hill station situated district of Almora in the state of Uttarakhand. It is located at an altitude of 2,480 meters This small town is located on the Jhandi Dhar hills of Kumaon. The entire town is surrounded by greenery and forests. The forests have pine, oak, deodar and rhododendron trees. The wildlife sanctuary near the town is the prime attraction for tourists. This sanctuary is spread over 45.59 sq km and has a vast range of flora and fauna. Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary, Bineshwar Mahadev Temple, Binsar Sanctuary Museum, Kasar Devi Temple are the main Binsar attractions. It is a forest reserve where people can explore natural beauty. In the presence of small and large hills people can enjoy adventurous activity such as trekking.
Pantnagar airport is one of the nearest airports to the city approximately 152 km away from the town. Flights are frequent and connected to various other cities such as Delhi, Chandigarh, Mukteshwar and many more places. Kathgodam Railway station is the nearest to the town which is about 119 km away. Trains are frequent which facilitates the travelers to move from one place to another.
The best time to visit Binsar is from October to March. Summer starts from March and lasts till May. Usually, the temperature rises above 30°C during this period. Summers are not so hot which allow the tourist to visit this town. During summers the minimum temperature recorded is about 15°C. The days are warm and sunny and the nights are cool and pleasant. Monsoon starts from June and lasts till September. Temperature is about 20°C during these days. This season is brilliant for a visit and to enjoy various sightseeing trips in the city.Winter starts in November and lasts till February. Winters are very cold as it is a hill station and the minimum temperature reaches 0°C.
Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary: This Wildlife Sanctuary is the most popular place in the town which has rich flora and fauna. People can view more than 200 bird species and wild animals such as Musk Deer, Braking Deer, Wild Boars, Flying Squirrel, Himalayan Bear, Porcupine, Panthers, Leopards and Foxes etc.
Kasar Devi Temple: From 1970 to early 1980s, this temple was the house of a Dutch Monk.
Bineshwar Mahadev Temple: It is one of the most visited holy places in the city which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. King Kalyan made this temple during the13th century. It is designed with gleaming architectural style which makes it more attractive.
