Experience guides are given for the touring. They spot a lot of animals. Pristine jungle. You are not allowed to get down anywhere. Great experience. Must try. This is one of the best safari experience we had in India.

The Coorg entrance of Nagarhole national park is around 90kms away from Madikeri near Kutta. The jungle safari was closed apparently due to rain but we were allowed to pass from one gate to another in our own vehicle. As soon as we entered we could see a lot of deer freely moving close to the road, and with Indian langoor on the trees and elephants within the next 10 minutes on either side of road. A mongoose crossed the road and an orange tailed animal we could not identify was sitting in the beach of a tree. There were several varieties of birds their sound filled the forest. For the rest of the journey which lasted nearly an hour it was a scenic ride with several types of trees and dense vegetation around the road. Halting in the forest is not allowed, and the many signboards talk of preserving nature and protecting animals. There were several vehicles passing through the forest to the Coorg and Mysore side. Our 5 year old son enjoyed when the animals were seen. Apparently Kabini, Bandipur are better forest for animal sighting. No information or portal provides real-time information of forest safari status. Overall good fun. The PPM restaurant in Kutta is a good option for veg/non veg lunch just before the forest entrance.
