Summer in Dwarka starts from March and lasts till June. The season is very warm with a temperate climate. The temperature ranges between 23°C and 42°C in the region. The period is perfect for sightseeing, temple visiting and exploring the nearby places.
Monsoon in the region prevails from June to September. It is accompanied with medium shower and hence the climate becomes very humid. The days are amusing and the nights are quite cold.
From November to February exists the winter season. The maximum temperature reaches up to 34°C and the minimum temperature recorded in the season is 9°C. The climate is usually cool with a pleasant ambiance. It is considered as the best season to visit Dwarka for sightseeing.
How to Reach
Jamnagar airport is the nearest domestic airport, which links Dwarka with all the main cities of the country. It is situated at a distance of 137 km from this holy city.
Dwarka rail station, on the Ahmedabad-Okha broad-gauge rail route, has links to major places of Gujarat as well as the rest of the country. The rail station at Dwarka is about 137 km away from Jamnagar. Rajkot and Ahmedabad are 217 km and 378 km respectively from Jamnagar.
Dwarkadeesh Temple: Dwarkadeesh Temple is believed to be built around 2500 years ago by Vajranabh, the great grandson of Lord Krishna. The temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna and therefore the complex remains pre- occupied by his devotees all year round. The glorious structure of the temple seems to rise from blue waters of Arabian Sea. The aura of devotion, spirituality, belief and architectural brilliance spread wings in the surrounding areas. A flight of nearly 56 steps leads to this 100-foot-high structure and offer the most captivating views of Gomti River. While immaculate artwork and extraordinary design adorns the exterior of the temple, its interior promotes architectural simplicity. Detailed ornamentation around the main shrine of the idol Dwarkadeesh is truly surreal and beautiful.
Nageshwar Jyotirlinga Temple: Located in the suburbs of Dwarka, Nageshwar Temple or Nagnath Temple is one of the well-known Shiva shrines in the country. This temple symbolizes the confiscation of evil forces from earth. It is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas. The Shivalinga of the temple is placed facing the south direction and the gopuram is placed on the eastern side. The huge idol of Lord Shiva allures the devotees with its charm. During Shivaratri, the temple gathers a huge crowd of devotees which almost changes the whole atmosphere into a place of festivities. Counted among major Dwarka attractions, the temple is visited by thousands of tourists every year.
